Overview

Green Resilience and Cooperation for Ecosystem (GRACE) successfully implemented a month-long awareness and environmental action campaign in Khulna District with financial support from the National Welfare Parishad Fund, Ministry of Social Welfare, and technical guidance from the District Social Service Office, Khulna.
The initiative was designed to inspire social awareness and environmental responsibility among communities, focusing on early marriage prevention, dengue awareness, urban cleanliness, and tree plantation for green growth.


Where We Worked

Activities were carried out in Ward No. 31 (KCC) and Raypara, Jolma Union, Botiaghata Upazila, engaging diverse community groups β€” including women, youth, students, and local leaders.


Objectives

  • Promote awareness and behavior change to prevent early marriage.

  • Enhance community understanding of dengue prevention and hygiene practices.

  • Encourage clean and green environments through community cleaning and tree plantation.

  • Strengthen youth participation and civic responsibility in building a healthier, more resilient community.


Key Highlights & Achievements

🌸 Early Marriage Prevention:
Two major campaigns were conducted in Khulna City and Botiaghata, engaging over 200 participants, including women, adolescents, and community leaders.
Three public billboards and 50 awareness leaflets were displayed across key areas, highlighting the legal and social impacts of early marriage and available government support services.


🧹 Cleaning & Dengue Prevention Campaign:
On October 10, 2025, GRACE led a large-scale cleaning and disinfection drive in Labanchara Ward No. 31, transforming a previously waste-filled dumping site into a clean, safe, and productive area.
The campaign raised awareness on proper waste disposal, mosquito control, and sustainable urban land use, encouraging residents to adopt hygienic practices and use household waste bins responsibly.

🌳 Tree Plantation for a Greener Future:
From October 15–17, 2025, GRACE organized a tree plantation event at Raypara Government Primary School, planting 16 tall fruit saplings (Mango, Hog Plum, Olive, and Peanut). Each plant was carefully fenced for protection, symbolizing care and long-term environmental commitment. Teachers and students actively participated, making the event both educational and inspiring.

  • 6 Billboards (3 on dengue prevention, 3 on early marriage prevention)

  • 100 Leaflets distributed in schools, markets, and public spaces

  • 205 Community Members sensitized through rallies and meetings

With support from the District Social Service Office, Khulna, and the Ministry of Social Welfare, the campaign united citizens for collective action β€” turning awareness into transformation.
Together, GRACE and the community are cultivating not only greener surroundings but also a stronger sense of social responsibility, equality, and hope for a sustainable future.
